Dear
Brothers and Sisters,
Father John of Kronstadt tells us that the foundation of prayer is the yearning of the image towards its prototype, as of like to like.
Within the Heartland Old Catholic Church, our belief
is we must develop a personal relationship with Our Lord and God, not simply a theoretical or intellectual understanding. The Church is a primary dispenser of nourishment for that relationship.
Daily meditation is a practical and effective method for developing this special relationship. No matter how busy we are, it is essential that we schedule each day quiet time to reflect, to pray, and most importantly, to listen. This religious exercise will change your life and may even lower your blood pressure.
Virtually every great world religion has included some form of
meditative practice. The purpose is related to the great commandment to love God with all our heart, mind, and soul. In any love affair, we want to be near the loved one.
Meditation combined with yoga is a wonderful spiritual experience for our children. Our young children, who by nature tend to be squirmy, can learn to appreciate and desire
quiet time in God's presence.
As previously stated, the Church promotes and fosters our efforts to become more
Christ-like. If you are seeking a spiritual home, please
consider one of the parishes of the Heartland Old Catholic Church.
We are a church in the Catholic tradition and Apostolic Succession. We are ecumenical. We are committed to social
ministry. We recognize the reality of divorce. As
has been the practice in some Catholic denominations since the first century of the
Christian Church, both men and women are ordained to the ministerial priesthood and have the option to marry.
Please explore our website and those of our parishes. Share your
needs, thoughts, questions, and prayer requests with me and our
pastors. Come to Mass. You are invited!
Peace and Blessings to All!
Bishop Judd
